I'm a graphic designer. My job is pixels, vectors, and keyboard shortcuts. I love it, but sometimes I miss the feeling of actually making something physical — of leaving a mark in the real world.
I bought these oil pastels on a whim, thinking I'd try them for some texture references in my personal work. I didn't expect much.
When the box arrived, I opened it at my desk, took out one stick, and drew a line on a piece of sketch paper. I was not prepared for how satisfying it felt.
Smooth. Rich. The pigment just lays down without that waxy drag you get from student-grade supplies. I sat there for two hours and finished an entire composition — something I haven't done in years.
What I appreciate most is that these work on multiple surfaces. Paper, canvas, card stock. They blend when you want them to and hold their shape when you don't. The color range is extensive enough that I haven't felt limited.
I'm not a professional oil pastel artist. I'm just someone who wanted to make something with their hands again. These gave me that. And at this price, I'm not worried about using them freely. I already ordered two more sets to keep at home.
If you've been thinking about getting back into art, start here. You won't regret it.
